Ideally, a desktop computer or laptop will take only a few minutes after it is turned on to be ready for use. In many cases, start-up programmes that have made their way onto your hard drive either willingly or unwillingly can cripple your operating system, causing a long wait before the device is ready to receive a command.

Slow Response To Clicks
Desktop computers and laptops are built to have split-second response times to commands. If your computer is taking a moment or two for itself before it opens the internet or any other desktop programmes, it is likely a sign that the processor is being occupied by the demands of pesky, unwanted programmes, such as spyware.

Unable To Play Video Files
In a world were computer files come in about as many different formats as soda pops have flavours, it can be quite a task for an aging computer to play each and every one for your viewing pleasure. If your computer is no longer playing most video files, it may be time for a new one.

This screen pops up immediately before a computer shuts itself down, usually due to overheating or an error brought on by an inability to read internal files.

A computer or laptop that is displaying the desktop and web pages in an incredibly low resolution is a sign that your computer has sent itself into safety mode, most likely as a result of an internal error that is best treated with the purchase of a new computer.
